Valérie Sonnier lives and works in Paris.
Since graduating from the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris, Sonnier has been developping her multi-media practice. She uses drawing, painting, photography and Super 8 film to construct relationships between personal memories and collective memory of childhood, and to address the concepts of presence, absence, and ghostly apparitions …
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including The Digital Hand at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan in 2010, Toys and Men at the National Galleries of the Grand Palais in 2011, Recent Acquisitions;2009-2013 at the Frac Picardie, Distant Proximity at La Centrale in Brussels in 2014 and
Contemporary Cocteau in Paris in 2015.
A selection of her drawings The book of minuscule Dead prefaced by Bruno Girveau and Dominique Païni was released by Yellow Now Editions in 2011.
She has been professor of drawing and morphology at the École des Beaux-arts in Paris since 2003.
She is represented by Nadja Vilenne Gallery in Belgium, which devoted a solo exhibition, Faire le photographe, II. in 2014.
